Round 7 – Week 4 - Cut Caffeine! [LOCKED]

Congratulations - you're now past the halfway mark in the 6 Week Sleep Challenge!
This week we’re turning it up a notch and asking you to give up coffee! Well, not completely but: Stop drinking coffee and other caffeinated drinks at least eight hours before you go to bed.
What are you going to drink to replace that caffeine hit? We have a few pieces of advice lined up in our blog, but tell us in the forum and support other sleep challengers through the week.

I've found Rooibos tea a really good caffeine-free alternative to black tea. I think people often forget how much caffeine is in black tea when we drink several cups a day! It can be had with or without milk, or sugar - it's quite similar, and very soothing at night!

Ok well I bought my decaf coffee and yesterday I only had decaf from lunchtime onwards. I had no trouble going to sleep but I woke up this morning with a clanging headache.....Im thinking it is from lack of caffiene.....I have a bigger problem with coffee than I realised. I will continue with the decaf int he afternoons and see what happens.

Sorry everyone, but this is the week that I am going to absolutely NAIL! I haven't had coffee or tea for years, since I quit smoking to be exact. And cola and chocolate have been out of my diet for weeks due to a kidney issue.

I am not shy to say that I definitely will not be doing this challenge for the week.
Nothing comes in the way of my caffeine intake.
This is not excessive, only generally 1 coffee a day, 2 if it's been a hard day, but this rarely happens.

The most difficult part of the challenge as of yet! I was able to do the first challenges with not much issue but this one is hard. I love my coffee, tea, iced tea, coke, etc. The dinner time coke or iced tea is the hardest one but I will keep trying!

I have to admit out of all the things I have changed giving up my caffeine is a BIG problem. Once again as a shift worker it's the only thing that keeps me going and helps me get through the night. I do try to restrict the amount prior to finishing my shift as I won't sleep but to give it up I don't think so.

Thankfully I stopped coffee about 6 weeks ago and now only allow myself a treat of one two times a week in the am. I don't even enjoy it that much now. I replaced it with peppermint tea and black tea. Do need to be careful not to over do the hot drinks too. Overall I feel heaps better and my BP has gone down too.

I prefer hot chocolate to tea and coffee and have even started to cut down on that too by having fruit tea instead.
