tech in the bedroom is not a problem I have but still am finding it difficult to get to sleep. I do play games on my iPad during the evening so I wonder how long before bedtime I should stop doing that?

I did ok. But when I wake through the night, I can't go back to sleep. Tried not to look at the time, but can't help myself as I need to know how much longer I have to toss & turn for. The night I didn't look at the time, seemed to be a little better. Will keep practicing.

This was the hardest challenge to start with! I use my phone as my alarm, I also hate waking up to the alarm clock because I end up waking up shocked it just feels so unnatural, almost all the time I went back to sleep. I wish I would wake up without an alarm clock.
I am unemployed, depressed; I sleep at 8 AM and wake up at 5 PM.
I decided to take this challenge because my sleep pattern is upside down.
I always find some motivation for some time to wake up, but my sleep always wins and the motivation always fades away.
I think if I change my sleep I will change my life.

Hi everyone, I'm guilty of reaching for my phone. I did sleep sort of ok this week but it was disrupted due to the fact that I had an emergency stomach operation 3 weeks ago so I am exhausted. I have gone back to work so I'm very worn out.
However, I'm wondering if I am staying in bed too long. I went to bed at 5.30 pm the other day and didn't get up until 6.00 am the next day. I woke up at about 4.00am so I listened to the radio for 20 minutes and I found this tired me out and I was soon asleep again.
I've decided to put the phone near the bedroom door so it is out of reach but its alarm can still wake me for work.
Good luck every for finding that REM we all desire.

I don't use technology at night so that is not my problem. If I go to sleep and get woken because I'm too hot, there is a noise or its gets very windy anything really even sex then I don't go back to sleep. It's like I only have one chance to go to sleep and once I've used it it's over for the night. Even if it's only one hours sleep.

Facebook is so accessible and fills the boredom gaps. I've never had a regular sleeping pattern in my whole life. The less sleep I have the more my mind turns on me. It's 1am and here I am posting on this forum. I have learnt over the years to calm things down a little around negativity, but sleep deprivation is a form of torture! Catch 22. When I've had little sleep over a number of days the insomnia kind of feeds on itself. I get cranky, demotivated and make mistakes. I chew over my day and can't settle down. I am a joy to be around when I'm like this - said no one ever. Running on fumes becomes the norm for me. I hit the wall eventually and manage small bursts of what may be considered a sleep routine. Some days after broken or a just a few hours sleep I feel absolutely batcrap crazy. It's a good start to shut technology down an hour before bedtime but.....some nights, when is bedtime? I know I have to retrain my brain chemistry to sort this out, baby steps I guess.
